This is a festival of sweet soul exploration through sound…a sacred celebration of the vibration of creation. Sound has the capacity to heal, transform our DNA and even to create new worlds and universes.We invite you to sing the song of your own heart and to birth your bliss into being, while being cradled in the arms of your brothers and sisters and the beautiful earth mother! Space of love is a very special co-created gathering where we all come together to share our unique gifts and create the space in a way that rings true to the rhythms of our spirits and mother earth. We are guided by love, joy and the dynamic energies that are ushering in the New Earth. The Blue Hippo Farm is a magnificent space to drink in the beauty and sacred heartbeat song of the earth. At SOL gatherings we come together to play, pray, dance, sing, sound, celebrate, garden and explore the beauty of creativity through an abundance of workshops and events. There are workshops and play spaces for children, and it is a special space for families. We are strictly drug and alcohol free. Although the guiding light of this gathering is sound…there will be space for yoga, dance, raw foods, journey work and whatever you feel to offer to the space…keeping an awareness of how sounds sings us into being in a myriad of ways…our heart beat, our breathe, the music we dance to, the song of nature and the earth as we garden. Food is mostly vegan and raw, communal bring and share, and communally prepared. Please note that in the spirit of co-creation everyone buys a ticket, incl. those offering workshops/events. SOL is a non-profit gathering, and a service of love, and the SOL team all offer their contributions on a seva (service/volunteer) basis. We keep ticket prices as low as possible to cover basic costs. All funds go directly back into the project to pay for costs such as the tipi village, equipment, decor, loo paper etc.

CO-CREATION: 

During the SOL weekend, we all come together as a loving and supportive community/ family to offer our energy, skills, gifts and awareness to the space! Meals will be prepared communally, and we ask that everyone take a turn in the kitchen. We are also looking for volunteers to focalise

meals. We also ask that you hold an awareness of keeping spaces clean, taking back with you all that you have brought, and dealing responsibly with refuse – reduce, reuse, recycle! Other roles will also come up spontaneously during the weekend, and we ask that you enter into them with love: e.g. fire keeping, refuse awareness. If you see something that needs doing – do it : )!

OFFERINGS:

FOOD:

Food is “bring and share” and communally prepared – this keeps ticket prices down and creates an amazing loving kitchen vibe. Healthy vegetarian/vegan food with a focus on raw food. Bring boxes of fruit and veg, nuts and seeds, tahini, superfoods and dates. Be generous, this food will be feeding you and your family over the whole weekend.

Also any kitchen equipment you feel inspired to contribute would be appreciated: think champion blenders, big pots, knives, chopping boards, peelers, big serving bowls/tubs etc.

ACCOMMODATION:

Is in camping and tipis. Camping: please bring tents, bedding, and all you will need to be cuddly and cosy. There are a limited number of beds in tipis available for an extra R100 per person for the weekend. Tipi’s have double and single beds and sleep about 5 people each. Bring ur own bedding.

DIRECTIONS:

From Cape Town, take the N2 toward Caledon. About 4km before Caledon, turn left at the sign that says “Greyton / Genadendal”. Drive for about 30km directly into Greyton. At the 3rd stop street you will see a sign toward Riviersonderend. Turn right here (Osman’s shop is on the corner) Follow the dirt road over a bridge. Keep heading straight for another 4 km. There is a sign on the left to Blue Hippo. Turn in here. Drive straight and park in the big open space where the other cars are. Welcome!

From Riviersonderend, Take the N2 towards Cape Town, passing through Riviersonderend, shortly after Shell garage, turn right at sign to Greyton. Travel on dirt road (following signs to Greyton) for approx 20kms and look out for the Blue Hippo sign on right 4km before Greyton. Turn in here.

Benjamin Steyl, will create the atmosphere by leading a meditation around the fire before entering the sweat lodge. Benjamin is an old hand at meditation and has done many years of spiritual development. Sid Organe will hold the space during the lodge and keep you all is a safe place.

We have accommodation available on several levels:

1. En suite bedroom (only one room available) with one double bed and one optional single bed. R2000 per person for the weekend. Minimum persons for this room are two. Should you wish to stay an extra night on Sunday the room is just R250.
2. In dormitory style for R1500 per person for the weekend sharing a bathroom. Extra night (Sunday night) charge will be R100 per person.
3. Camping under the trees. R1000 per person for the weekend. Extra night charge will be R50 per person.

Self-catering except for Picnic Lunch and Community Diner.

Each person should cater for:
• Friday lunch;
• Friday supper with a simple snack platter to be shared with all;
• Breakfast for Saturday and Sunday.

If you choose to stay longer all meals from Sunday lunch will be self-catering. Seasonal vegetables are available from the farm. What is available will be advised a couple of days before the Retreat.

What to wear

• As this area can experience all four seasons in one day it is advisable to bring clothing that can be layered for warmth if necessary.
• Casual comfortable clothing.

Please read this article to find out about the exciting opportunity for another Kins´Domain eco-village in South Africa. Hans is a property developer who read the Ringing Cedars books when he was in Holland, and has been looking for land since to help develop a Kins´domain eco-village inspired by Anastasia.

He has found a piece of land between P.E and Jeffreys bay.
The site is over 600 ha, and can house around 50 families.
The rest of the land is applicable for a nature reserve. It has a beautiful view of the sea coast and on the other side to the baviaans Mountains.
There is game on the land (including zebra, wildebeest and impala) and the idea was for an Eco Village, but also for Eco Tourism which can accumulate income and be used for the settlers.

we have a welcoming circle. *PLEASE* come in time for this otherwise you miss out on this valuable introduction and setting the context for our day together and we miss out on hearing about you (even if you want to be silent and just watch things and are unsure of the idea of sharing circles- you’re welcome to just observe, but please be there).

What we’re likely to do in this space, because of the spring theme of birth and fertility, is to have an open discussion about CHILDBIRTH and RAISING CHILDREN. Many of those coming have much practical knowledge to share on this valuable topic.
MUSIC and POETRY- please bring stuff to share that inspires, specially on the spring theme ( think birth, new beginnings- make it as abstract as you like) and instruments to make some noise together.

A quick update…
DATE: I’m changing the date to Sunday as there is a big festival in muizenberg that the whole muizenberg community is involved in.. The Muizenberg community is so lovely- i would like to make is easy for them to attend. Also our host would very much like to be there. I apologise if this messes with anyone’s arrangements! And this way the earth dance people may be more inclined to join us if they’ve had their fill of earth dancing by Sunday.

OFFERINGS: One or two have offered to do some activities (children’s activities,  a talk, some music and a dance) but i don’t have more than that confirmed… so if you would like to help us co-create this, please let me know.. it can be very informal and playful too if you have a fun idea up your sleeve. Will send out a proper activities list on Wednesday.

It has been so delightful to be sharing the turning of the seasons with you. Winter solstice was magical at the blue hippo in Greyton. There is something so fine, so tender and precious and at the same time, deeply nourishing and grounding that comes about when we have the courage to drop our armouring and connect with one another from a space of authenticity, vulnerability- a space of love.

This month we do so within the greater context of Spring and all the subtle energy of New-ness that it brings.

SET-UP: Beloved Dale is letting us use his home. Thank you dear friend! Hopefully, depending on the response to this and if enough people want to get involved, it’ll be more like the full gathering in that we’ll have a day schedule with events taking place all day. Beginning with yoga or meditation and opening circle in the morning and ending with a dance and a closing circle in the evening.

CO-CREATION: Space of Love is a Co-Created event. This means we need your particular brand of being to make it all happen! 
here are the roles that need filling:
~Setting up on Friday
~Décor: SPRING theme (daisy chains, lots of flowers everywhere, etc.) carpets, cushions, prayer flags, whatever you can bring…
~ Signage to direct people in (arrows and welcome vibes)
~ Kitchen and food awareness people
~ Clean-up people -everyone is a clean-up person, of course- but i mean taking down all the décor and any M.O.O.P [matter out of place] and so on.

MEALS:This means you will need to bring lunch and supper food to share- please ensure that it is enough for you and your family- no exceptions- if there is any difficulty with this, please speak to me. Please bring your own eating tools and receptacles. Please prepare before hand – just makes things a lot simpler as you can imagine. If someone has a nice big pot like a potjie pot to lend us we can make our evening meal a big pot of soup. I’ll wait for feedback on that and send another mail out to confirm supper plans and the schedule.

THEME: Spring! think eggs, seeds, flowers, fertility, rabbits, new beginings, seeds, new shoots. Please involve your inner and outer children and dress the part. There is a part in all of us which yearns to surrender to innocence and delight. (Rikus and Geoffrey- we’ll make black outfit exceptions for you if need be… you may have to put up with me plaiting a flower or two into your hair, however)

OFFERINGS: Let us thread the spring theme in to everything we offer.Here are the slots that need filling (might shift around a little)… please contact me with your ideas if you’d like to participate in this way.
